Glasgow’s biking community have taken to the streets to help raise money for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
The annual Easter Egg run kicked off this morning at Glasgow Green and saw over 700 bikers ride to the Royal Hospital for Children.
The event has run for more than four decades, and this year was the first to gather pre-pandemic numbers of bikers.
Head of fundraising for the charity, Douglas Samson, said: “today is definitely the biggest easter egg run since the pandemic, we had a couple of years off where we weren’t able to hold the event, and I know the bikers really missed it.
“It does make such a difference to the children in the hospital when they see and they hear the bikes coming by, because they’re reminded that people are thinking of them.”
The parade started off on Greendyke Street before heading over the Squinty Bridge and on to the hospital. After waving to the kids, the convoy headed to Braehead for a family fun day.
As in earlier years, those taking part went all out with the costumes, some dressed as Easter bunnies, or chickens, with even a few Storm Troopers and a Chewbacca.
Douglas said: “the bikers make such an effort, and we really are grateful to them for thinking about the children and the hospital.
“We see people coming here for the first time, but we also see so many people who are coming back again and again, and it’s just fantastic to see.”
Bikers travelled from all over Scotland to take part, including one pair who were down from Aberdeen.
The charity’s mascot bear led the way as the procession took off towards the hospital, with crowds lining the way to cheer them on.
