Glasgow Film Festival (GFF24) has announced the full programme for it’s 20th annual edition. It will showcase over 120 features in just 12 days across the city – running from 28th February till 10th March

To open the festival, Kristen Stewart stars in the UK premiere of Rose Glass’ new thriller, Love Lies Bleeding, which is just one of 69 UK premieres packed into the programme.

The world premiere of Janey will close the festival - a moving and boldly comedic documentary chronicling Scottish stand-up legend Janey Godley’s final live tour following her terminal cancer diagnosis.

In the days between the anticipated bookends, cinemagoers can catch Ewan McGregor play an estranged father alongside real-life daughter Clara McGregor in Bleeding Love, and then, marvel at remastered footage of the rarely seen Billy Connolly: Big Banana Feet – the documentary shot during his 1975 tour of Ireland.

Allison Gardner, CEO of Glasgow Film and director of GFF24, said: “One of my highlights of GFF is our Audience Award.

“The Audience Award supports emerging talent and it’s a joy to see these films play in front of our dedicated audiences.

Proud to support Scottish talent

“We also champion Scottish films from our past and this year we have some fantastic anniversaries to honour.

“Shallow Grave is 30-years-old and Glaswegian Lynne Ramsay’s debut feature Ratcatcher is 25-years-old – we’re screening that from a new 4K print.”

Glasgow Film Festival celebrates it’s 20th anniversary alongside the 50th anniversary of Glasgow Film Theatre – 85 years since the building’s first cinema was opened as Cosmo’s to become the first purpose-built arthouse in Scotland.

Gardner said: “I consider myself a caretaker of this building.

“We need to make sure we use it - it’s important people understand we are a not-for-profit educational charity.

“All donations, tickets sold, and the gin and tonic you buy from the bar, all these things contribute to what we’re doing year round at the film theatre and of course the festival.

“We really do need your support.”

Tickets for the Opening and Closing Galas go on sale at 11am on Thursday 25th January with all general sale tickets on sale Monday 29th January.
