Police in Glasgow have seized drugs thought to be worth nearly £1.8 million.

Officers pulled over two cars in the Haghill area yesterday discovering around 42 kilos of cocaine.

Two men aged 34 and 56 have been charged in connection and are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.

Detective Superintendent David Ferry said: “This operation underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

"People’s lives are ruined by drugs and we are determined to disrupt criminal activity which has such a negative impact on the lives of our communities.

"We will continue to work with our partners to ensure Scotland is a hostile environment for those who seek to bring misery to our communities through their involvement in drugs.”
