£144k of cannabis seized in Lanarkshire

Drugs with an estimated street value of over £144,000 have been recovered at an address in North Lanarkshire.

Around 7.25pm on Wednesday, 11 September, officers searched a property on Carron Street in Wishaw and recovered around 38kg of cannabis.

In addition, over £13,000 cash and items used for the distribution of illegal drugs were seized.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday, 12 September, 2024.

Detective Sergeant Vicky Shanley said: “This is a significant recovery and is an example of our efforts to disrupt the trade in illegal drugs in Scotland.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“We would continue to urge anyone with information or concerns about drugs activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
