Councillors have decided nightclubs in Glasgow can continue to stay open until 4am following a pilot scheme which started in 2019.

The city’s Licensing Board met with licensing officials and Police Scotland to hear their experiences before they made the decision earlier.

Bamboo, Savoy, Sub Club, Polo Lounge, AXM, The Cathouse, The Garage, Tropicana & Vogue, Kokomo and the Berkeley Suite will continue to stay open late.

Paul Banham runs The Buff Club and The Shed and told Greatest Hits Radio: "On the surface it appears to be good news and hopefully this is the beginning of a progressive attitude towards the night time industry in the city.

"Everyone can see the centre of town is struggling and anything encouraging people to come and visit these 'destination' venues should create a more vibrant place for us all.

"I really hope this is the start of a more business-friendly environment in Glasgow."
