Fire crews on Cathedral Street after 'potentially hazardous' chemical spillage

The incident happened within a University of Strathclyde building

Fire crews remain on the scene of a "potentially hazardous" chemical spillage in Glasgow.

The incident on Cathedral Street has left the road closed from North Hanover Street to Stirling Road.

Eight fire trucks were sent to the scene where emergency responders were met with the spillage.

No one is reported to be injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted to an incident at 3.54pm on Monday the 5th of June at a property on Cathedral Street in Glasgow.

“We mobilised 8 appliances to the scene where they were met with a spillage of potentially hazardous materials.

“Crews remain in attendance at the moment, and there are no reported casualties.”
