Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke joins FC Twente on loan

Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has joined FC Twente on a season-long loan deal.

The Sweden international joined the Parkhead side last summer but failed to make a breakthrough under Brendan Rodgers.

He made his debut in a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock in the Premier Sports Cup and went on to feature only nine more times last campaign.

The 24-year joins the Eredivisie side who have signed him to replace former captain Robin Propper who moved to Rangers this summer.

Celtic are hoping for a busy final few days of the transfer window as they look to replace Matt O'Riley who left for Brighton in a Scottish record deal.

The club are in talks with Augsburg over a move for midfielder Arne Engels, while they are also interested in LAFC's Mateusz Bogusz.

Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty has also been linked while a loan deal is close for Barcelona left-back Alex Valle.
