Carnbooth House Hotel fire was deliberate say police

The blaze which broke out the Carnbooth House Hotel last week is being treated as deliberate by police.

The fire at the former popular wedding venue was noticed around 8.40pm on Thursday August 17.

No one was injured in the incident, but significant damage was caused to now derelict building.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area.

Aitkenhead Road CID Detective Constable Declan Quinn-Thomas said: “This was a significant fire and thankfully no one was injured.

“I would urge anyone with any information to make contact with police.

“Think back, did you see or hear anything suspicious or unusual in the area that evening? Perhaps you have private CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries? If so, please get in touch.”

Six appliances and arial assistance remained in the area overnight.
