Blaze rips through derelict building in Paisley

Emergency services are still at the scene of a blaze in Paisley.

Fire crews were called to Stevenson Street at 2:36 this morning where a former nursing home was being engulfed by flames.

Scottish Fire and Rescue told Clyde 1 News five appliances were involved in the response, and no injuries have been reported.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.36am on Thursday, 1 August, to reports of a fire within a derelict building on Stevenson Street, Paisley.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and a height appliance to the scene.

"All appliances still remain in attendance as crews continue to firefight.

“There are no reported casualties.”
