Bomb squad called to home in West End of Glasgow

Officers say a suspicious item has been found in a back garden.

The bomb squad has been called to a property in the West End of Glasgow this afternoon and homes have been evacuated.

Officers were called around 12.05pm to reports of a suspicious item in a back garden at a house on Banavie Road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.05pm on Tuesday, 12 September, 2023, police were called to a property in Banavie Road, Glasgow, following the discovery of suspected ordnance in a back garden.

“The EOD are on their way and a cordon is in place.

“People in surrounding properties have been evacuated as a precaution until the item can be safely disposed of.”
