Bomb squad called to Buchanan Bus Station

Three men have now been arrested after a suspicious item was reported to police.

Three men have been arrested after a suspicious item was found at Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow this afternoon, sparked an evacuation.

The bomb squad were called to the station after the alarm was raised at 1.10pm.

Police are still advising the public to avoid the area and no buses are entering or leaving the station.

Roads around the station are sealed off

A statement from Police Scotland reads: “Buchanan Bus Station is closed following a report of a potential suspicious item around 1.10pm. Killermont Street is closed to traffic and pedestrians. The public is advised to avoid the area. EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) has been notified and enquiries are ongoing.

Nearby Glasgow Caledonian University has been evacuated, with students sent an email alert telling them to leave campus immediately:

Killermont Street is closed between West Nile Street and North Hanover Street and Cowcaddens Road is shut between Port Dundas Road and North Hanover Street.
