Woman 'critical' after crash involving mobility scooter

A 65-year-old woman is fighting for life in hospital after being knocked off her mobility scooter by a car in Ayr.

The collision involving a blue BMW 5 series happened on Waggon Road near to the junction with Peebles Street around 2.15pm on Friday afternoon.

The woman was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where her condition is described as 'critical'.

The driver was unhurt.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstance and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

“We are also asking people to check their dash-cam and private CCTV to see if they have captured anything that could help with our investigation.

“Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2222 of Friday, 31 May, 2024."
