Man stands trial accused of attempting to murder Glasgow solicitor

A man is accused of attempting to murder a lawyer at a solicitors' office.

Esayas Neguse, 36, allegedly assaulted Muhammad Shoaib at MS Solicitors and Notaries Public in Glasgow on September 21, 2022.

Court papers claim Neguse repeatedly attempted to strike the lawyer on the neck and body with a knife.

It is stated Neguse went on to repeatedly strike him on the body with a knife as well as struggle with him.

This is claimed to have been to Mr Shoaib's severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.

Neguse faces a separate charge of assaulting solicitor Muhammed Ibrahim at the same time and place.

It is alleged Neguse struggled with Mr Ibrahim and headbutted him to his injury.

Neguse is further accused of assaulting Amin Uddin Syed there by struggling with him and biting his hand to his injury.

Neguse faces a charge of having a knife in the city's Victoria Road without a reasonable excuse.

He is stated to have also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner to police custody officers and spat on one of them.

Neguse pled not guilty to the six charges at the High Court in Glasgow.

A further hearing will take place in September.
