Man pleads guilty to assault after firing airgun at man in Drumchapel

A man has pleaded guilty to assault after shooting an airgun at another man in Glasgow.
Colin Mitchell fired the shots at Thomas West outside his flat in Drumchapel, in November last year
Mr West fled into his van for safety but the 23-year-old continued to fire at him.
As well as assault, he admitted culpably and recklessly discharging ball bearings from an air gun to the danger of the public.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard how Mitchell told a witness not to call the police and "not to be a grass."
He then fired more bullets with some striking the victim's van.
Sentencing at a later date
Mitchell then got into a taxi before police found him at his brother's house.
A part of the gun had been left behind at the scene.
His flat had also been searched to find plastic and metal ball bearings inside.
The sentencing was deferred pending background reports by Sheriff Iain Fleming.
He said: "You are a young man under 25 and there are guidelines I need to follow.
"Rehabilitation must be at the forefront of my mind and I need a background report.
"Don't interpret that this means that you will avoid custody."
Mitchell, who appeared from custody, had his remand continued meantime.
