An Airdrie man is celebrating completing a year long running challenge raising cash for the Beatson Cancer Charity.
Jamie Simpson ran 5k every day in 2023 after his wife Lee-Ann was diagnosed with stage 4 skin cancer.
He managed to finish the challenge even while working offshore and topped it off with a full marathon finishing at the Beatson Cancer Charity yesterday.
He told Greatest Hits Radio: "I am really stubborn and that is what kept me going.
"At times it felt like it was me versus the cancer and I would set weird challenges in my head like 'If I can finish this 5K in under 25 minutes then I will beat it'."
Jamie had already been running every day for years before starting the challenge and does not plan to give up anytime soon.
Lee-Ann said: "I am so proud he has been able to reach such a big target - all for a good cause.
"The last couple of years have been so overwhelming, but to know you have a charity like the Beatson to support you is incredible.
"When I first got diagnosed, I just didn't understand it because I didn't go out in the sun or go to sunbeds.
"Raising awareness to make sure others would not be in the same position as me is worth it."
