Woman hit at pedestrian crossing in Colchester

A woman has been injured after being hit on a pedestrian crossing in Colchester.

The 53-year-old was taken to hospital after the collision with a van on Parson Heath on Thursday evening, at around 6.20pm.

The 53-year-old woman was taken to hospital but her injuries were not thought to be serious.

Officers investigating the collision would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or anyone who may have seen the Citroen Berlingo in the area in the moments leading up to the crash.

Essex Police would also like to hear from anyone who may have Dash Cam footage of the incident or vehicle.

Anyone with information can contact their Stanway Roads Policing Unit by calling 101 and quoting incident 1002 of 28 January.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs in connection with the incident.

He has been bailed while our enquiries continue.
