A Witham man has been jailed for eight years after being convicted of more than 40 child sex offences.
43 year old Jon Gordon was arrested after a police raid on his home in Gershwin Boulevard in December 2018.
He was targeted by police after they received information that he'd been communicating with someone he thought was a 13 year old child.
Officers found he had more than 1,200 incident images in his possession, as well as videos of child abuse.
They also found he had had around 6,500 conversations with appoximately 900 young people via Skype.
He was charged with a total of 45 offences, including sexual communications with a child, inciting a child to perform sexual acts, and indecent images of children offences.
He admitted his guilt at Chelmsford Crown Court on February 24 and was sentenced last week (April 13).
Detective Sergeant Samantha Lewin, from Essex Police, said: “Jon Gordon is a dangerous sexual predator who sought out and preyed upon underage boys and girls for his own sexual gratification.
“He had a huge library of child abuse images and videos and the sheer number of charges he admitted to highlights the scale of his offending.
“I have no doubt Essex is a safer place now he is behind bars.”
