Unknown liquid thrown over men in Jaywick

It's not currently known what the liquid was and police are continuing enquiries.

Officers received reports that two men had an unknown liquid thrown over them at The Broadway after 9pm on Friday 9th October.

They went into nearby shops to find help and doused themselves in water, a woman also collapsed at the scene from the fumes.

Paramedics, fire and police attended the scene and no serious injuries were reported.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

One of the suspects is described to be wearing a black tracksuit, while another was wearing grey.

Police say there is no wider threat to the public following the incident which they are treating as targeted.

Chief Inspector Rob Huddleston said: "Whilst we understand that members of the public will be rightly concerned at hearing about this incident, we can reassure people that incidents like this are extremely rare.

"This incident is also believed to be targeted so we can reassure people that there is no wider threat to the community.

"We are doing all we can to catch those responsible and would urge anyone with information to come forward."
