Two men have been charged with attempted murder as part of ongoing enquiries into a serious incident in Colchester.

Kaya Adu, 19, of Hereward Green, Loughton, and Rushi Jadeja, 21, of Pickford Walk, Colchester, have been charged with attempted murder.

Adu also faces a charge of possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Both are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court this morning (Saturday 13 January).

A 20-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been released and will face no further action at this time.

It comes after officers were called to the junction of Queen Street and Priory Street at about 6.30pm on Tuesday 9 January following reports of a boy being seriously assaulted. The victim, a 16-year-old, was taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Thankfully, his condition is no longer life-threatening.
