Two men have been arrested after vehicles were recovered near Chelmsford.

Essex Police's Roads Policing Unit followed a tractor they say had been taken from Kent through Chelmsford on Sunday, before tracking it down to the site in Saxon Way.

A Nissan pick-up track and triple axle trailer, two double axle trainers, four quadbikes, a tractor, a John Deere buggy, and a John Deere lawn mower were recovered.

Detectives believe they were all stolen and are trying to identify their owners.

The men - aged 35 and 38 - remain in custody, and are being questioned on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

Adam Pipe, Heads of Roads Policing, said:

"Vehicle theft is a priority for us and we know the impact it has, whether it be that you can’t take the kids to school, you can’t get to work, you can’t do the food shop.

"If the vehicle taken is one you need for your livelihood it can stop you from working.

"We’re committed to tackling the issue and I’m glad we have been able to bring suspects into custody."
