Two arrested as police open attempted murder investigation

A man in his twenties is in hospital after being stabbed in Canewdon over the weekend.

Police were called just before 8.55am on Sunday 22 January to reports of an injured man at a property in Paddocks Close, Canewdon.

Officers attended and found a man, had sustained a single stab wound and facial injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he remains. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening but may be life changing.

Police have arrested two men, who are 31 and 27 and from the Southend area, on suspicion of attempted murder and they remain in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Nick Brunton, leading the investigation, said: “We understand that this will cause concern in the community, but we’d like to reassure our residents that there is no wider risk.

“Officers are carrying out high visibility reassurance patrols and remain in the area to answer anyone’s concerns.

“If you know anything about this incident that may help our investigation, please call us or approach one of our officers and tell them what you know.”
