Three men have been rescued from a house fire in Grays.

Flames broke out on Seabook Rise at around 4:25am. When fire crews arrived a man was trying to escape from the first floor, while another two were trapped in a bedroom.

The men suffered smoke inhalation and were left in the care of paramedics.

The house didnt have any working smoke alarms.

Watch Manager Dave Hogan, of Essex County Fire & Rescue said: "It was a well-established fire and crews did brilliantly to quickly find the men and bring them to safety.

"They also did a fantastic job in getting the fire under control and preventing any damage to other properties."

The house didnt have any working smoke alarms.

"This incident shows the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home because they can act as an early warning.

"It also shows the importance of closing your internal doors when you go to bed. It will help to stop fire and smoke spreading in the event of a fire."

An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the blaze.
