Three men arrested after attempted catalytic converter theft in Brightlingsea

Three men have been arrested after reports of someone trying to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle in Brightlingsea.

Officers were called to Red Barn Road at 12.05am today (12 May).

They carried out enquiries and identified a vehicle they believed may be linked to the incident.

A vehicle failed to stop for officers in the Woodlands Close area of Clacton at around 1.20am, and a pursuit was authorised.

The vehicle was brought to a stop.

Three men were arrested.

A 35 year-old and a 39 year-old were arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, theft from a vehicle, and going equipped.

A 29 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of going equipped, theft of a motor vehicle, and failing to stop for police.

All three are currently in custody.

Essex Police is urging anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage to contact them, by submitting a report online or using the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm, quoting incident 9 of 12 May.
