Three arrested after Colchester violence
It happened on the High Street in the early hours of yesterday
Three people have been arrested within ten minutes of reports of a violent disturbance in Colchester High Street in the early hours of yesterday morning, Sunday 11 August.
Police were alerted to the incident shortly before 1am, with a caller reporting an altercation close to East Stockwell Street between a number of people, some of whom were armed.
During that altercation a man aged in his 30s had sustained a facial injury.
While his injury is serious, it is not life-threatening, nor life-changing.
Officers were quickly at the scene and identified three people in East Stockwell Street, moving towards St Peter’s Street who matched the descriptions of those involved in the incident.
All three, two men aged 22 and 18 and a 14-year-old boy, were quickly arrested on suspicion of GBH and remain in custody.
We won't tolerate violence
Detective chief inspector Nathan Hutchinson said: “We won’t tolerate violent incidents like this in our towns and cities in Essex.
“The fact that three people were arrested within ten minutes of this happening shows there really is no hiding place for people intent on committing crime or disorder. This demonstrates the high level of public support Essex Police have in Colchester as a number of witnesses have come forward to support our investigation.
“Although the victim has sustained a nasty injury, he received excellent medical treatment from our SOS bus and is thankfully now recovering. We can never lose sight of how violent incidents can impact victims but working with the public and charities such as the SOS bus we will always respond strongly to help people and catch criminals.”
