Man charged following joint police investigation into series of vehicle thefts across Thurrock and Southend

A man has been charged in connection with a series of vehicle thefts across Thurrock and Southend.

Jayden Hussain, 31, of Guildford Road, Southend, was arrested after a vehicle was stolen from Leigh-on-Sea was traced and stopped by Met Police officers on 2 July.

He was transferred to Essex Police custody and charged with multiple offences including conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, aggravated vehicle taking, and dangerous driving.

He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on 4 July and is due at Basildon Crown Court on 1 August.

The charges follow an investigation into around 15 thefts between 13 May and 1 July. Police say vehicle crime has fallen by nearly 10% across Essex in the past year, with a 126% rise in cases solved.
