The Tour of Britain comes to Essex today.

It's starting in Southend-on-Sea and finishing at Harlow, both are first time hosts for Stage 6 of the elite men's race.

Stage 6 begins from the Western Esplanade at 11:45am, with the first 65 kilometres looping around towns such as Rochford, South Woodham Ferrers and Burham-on-Crouch.

It finishes on Third Avenue in Harlow at around 3:28pm.

The Tour Of Britain organisers have given these timings for other locations:

Rochford (12:09)

South Woodham Ferrers (12:49)

Burnham-on-Crouch (13:12)

Southminster (13:17)

Bradwell-on-Sea (13:31)

Ship Road (14:23)

Stock (14:25)

Ingatestone (14:34)

The Netherlands' Olav Kooij won the first four stages of this year's Tour of Britain to equal Edvald Boasson Hagen's record of four consecutive stage wins.

Yesterday, Wout van Aert, broke away from the peloton with less than a kilometre to go - winning the Suffolk stage by 3 seconds and in turn taking the lead in the general classification.

Road Closures

A rolling road closure will be in place during the stage route today.

It means each road route will be closed to traffic for the short period of time it takes for the cyclists to pass by.

Escort vehicles will be indicating the start and end of those arriving through parts of the route.

Thousands of spectators are expected along the route, while people who travel along the route may be delayed.

Full road closures will be in place on:

Western Esplanade - from its junction with Shorefield Road to its junction with Pier Hill/Marine Parade including the cycle path - from 4am until 3pm

Marine Parade - from its junction with Southchurch Avenue to its junction with Western Esplanade/Pier Hill - from 9.30am until 1pm

Pier Hill - in its entirety - from 9.30am until 1pm

Hartington Road/Pleasant Road - from their junctions with Marine Parade - from 9.30pm until 1pm
