The Maldon Mud Race is back!
The popular fundraising event in Essex, will feature Maisie Bourke and her boyfriend Alfie Richer in the 2023 edition of the race.
The couple aims to raise funds for the Maldon Mud Race Charities and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Maisie, who is the daughter of comedian Jo Brand, plans to run the race in honour of comedian Sean Lock and her uncle Bill, who both passed away due to cancer.
Sean had previously run the race with Jo, who has agreed to start the race and support Maisie and Alfie.
Maisie told us: "I genuinely really enjoyed actually doing the race and I feel like not many people say that, but I love that kind of thing. I like just getting involved and doing kind of interesting stuff like that. And I had a great time doing it."
"I think I probably feel a bit better prepared this year just because, I know what to expect"
"I'm not gonna lie and say I've trained or anything I haven't particularly. I definitely, you know, eat a like Big Breakfast on the day".
"But I think just like having known what it was like last year will definitely improve my experience"
"I Know what to wear as well to not get dragged down in the mud"
Apart from Maisie and Alfie, several news presenters and individuals and teams from across the country are also expected to participate in the event.
Organisers expect a large crowd of over 20,000 [people and to raise plenty of money for local charities.
The event, is free for spectators and will feature a funfair, a vast array of artisan food, and a large stage with entertainment starting from 10 am.
