An Essex man is due to be sentenced next year after being convicted of child sex offences.

71 year old Leslie Cook, of St Osyth Road in Little Clacton, was arrested after the abuse was reported in April 2020.

The offenced happened in Braintree in March 2020.

Cook, of St Osyth Road, Little Clacton, was later charged with Sexual Assault of a child and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

He was found guilty following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Investigating officers PC Christina Gaskin and DC Jamieson, of Essex Police, said:

“I want to praise the victim in this case for the strength they have demonstrated in disclosing what happened to them.

“Leslie Cook subjected them to an ordeal no child should face and now has the prospect of time in prison as a result.

“We are committed in getting justice for victims of sexual assault and I hope this result will help the victim and their family to move forwards.”

Cook will be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 20 next year.
