Teenager girl dies in hospital after collision in Colchester

A teenage girl who suffered life threatening injuries in a collision in Colchester last month has died.

A Ford Kuga car and the pedestrian were involved on the corner of Barrack Street and Challenge Way in the early hours of Sunday August 29.

"A teenage girl who was seriously injured in a collision in Colchester last month has died in hospital.

"We had been called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a Ford Kuga on the corner of Barrack Street and Challenge Way shortly after 2.15am on Sunday 29 august.

"The pedestrian, a teenage girl, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital but, sadly, has since died.

"We are continuing to support her family in this incredibly difficult time.

"A 34 year-old man was arrested following the collision and was since released under investigation.

"We are continuing to carry out enquiries into the collision and what led up to it and need to speak to anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.
