Three teenagers have been arrested following an assault on a driver in Rectory Grove, Leigh.

Police were called on Sunday 18 May 2025 after reports that three suspects approached a car and attacked the person inside. The victim suffered injuries to their leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The next day, Monday 19 May, the same suspects were reported to have threatened and abused another person in the same street. This second incident was not connected to the assault.

Officers arrested a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man from Leigh. All three are suspected of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, public order offences, and possession of a Class B drug.

Detective Inspector Steve Franklin said: “This incident serves as an example of how seriously we take violent crime in our district. If you commit these offences, you will be arrested.”

He added: “My officers have worked hard following several lines of enquiry which helped secure these arrests. The suspects remain in custody and we are continuing to build our case before putting it before the Crown Prosecution Service.”

Detective Inspector Franklin also noted that violent offences are falling year-on-year, and police continue to work to reduce them further.
