Two men have been arrested after National Crime Agency officers raided a suspected ketamine lab at a rented property in Essex.

On Friday 18 November the pair were detained on suspicion of the production of the class B drug at the property in Hutton.

Officers discovered an estimated 15 to 20 kilos of the drug, along with lab equipment required to be used in its production; Specialist officers continued to search the property over the weekend.

One man has been bailed pending further enquiries, whilst the other remains in police custody after it was discovered he was on license after serving for previous

NCA Regional Head of Investigation Jacque Beer said: “We suspect the flat was being rented exclusively for the purpose of housing a factory capable of producing large quantities of ketamine.”
