Activity-packed summer at Castle Park
A programme of activities has been launched
Castle Park has launched its programme of summer activities, as people look ahead to the next stage of COVID-19 restrictions easing.
Run by Colchester Borough Council, it includes a series of talks and tours into the park's history and wildlife, minibeast hunts, biodiversity surveying and more.
One of the events is the Bioblitz activity next week (4 June), between 10am and 3pm.
The Park Ranger Team will be there to help identify and record people's findings.
It is said to be a "great way" to record the biodiversity of the park and help guide future management of the site.
The RSPB and Essex Wildlife Trust will also be on hand.
For any budding actors, the Summer Performance Workshop is also taking place.
It is a two-day activity for children aged seven to 10 years and their family, to create a show on the history of the local area.
They will be able to put script/song writing and acting skills to the test.
Councillor Martin Goss, Colchester Borough Council portfolio holder for waste, environment and transportation, said:
"I'm really pleased to be launching this summer activity programme for Castle Park.
"It's great that we are progressing to the next stage of restrictions easing and we are looking forward to a fun-filled summer of events in Castle Park and green spaces."
All activities will operate within coronavirus guidelines.
People can also explore Castle Park with the council's free self-led history and wildlife trails.
There is more information on the full Castle Park activities programme and how to book online.
Castle Park trails and activity programme supports the aims of Livewell Colchester, a campaign which helps to support residents to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
