Over 1.3 million passengers are expected at the airport this winter period between the 20th of December and the 5th of January, in the busiest time of the season.

Stansted Airport are issuing advice in hopes to reduce stress for passengers and staff.

Anita Harrison, the customer operations director says that: “as most people are winding down for Christmas, we’re certainly winding up”.

She explains that the Christmas holidays are an especially busy time, and that thinking ahead of the journey will ease any stress.

Pre-booking parking, arriving early, checking packing rules, and spreading Christmas cheer are some of the advice given by the airport.

“Make sure you check your travel arrangements and prepare as we do have some closures and timetable changes on the trains”

Liverpool Street will be closed from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day, meaning Stansted Express services will start or terminate at Tottenham Hale.

Anita also had some advice about wrapping gifts: don’t if you want to avoid delays.

"I know its really easy to get ahead and wrap everything up before you travel, but actually if we do need to look inside your bag and open your gifts, it will mean that you’ll have to rewrap them”

“Not wrapping anything ahead of time will make it much easier if we do have to look inside your bag”, Anita says.
