Southend United will pause before their game this afternoon (16 October) to remember Southend West MP, Sir David Amess.

The 69-year-old was stabbed to death in Leigh-on-Sea yesterday (15 October) as he met with constituents in Belfairs Methodist Church.

Southend United are due to host Chertsey Town in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup at Roots Hall

A minute's silence will be held for Sir David before the 3pm kick off.

Meanwhile, The Shrimpers' players will wear black armbands and a wreath will be laid on the pitch.
