Southend set to commemorate the life of MP killed three years ago

A memorial service for Sir David Amess - who was stabbed to death at a constituency surgery in 2021 - will be held in Leigh-On-Sea tomorrow (15 October).
Sir David Amess, a long-serving Conservative MP for Southend West, was fatally stabbed in Leigh-on-Sea by an IS fanatic during a constituency surgery on 15 October 2021.
A memorial service will mark the third anniversary of his death.
It is set to be held at the statue of Sir David Amess in Leigh-On-Sea on 15 October at 12:00.
The service will "remember and commemorate his life", says his successor and former MP, Anna Firth.
"Flowers will be laid, and music provided by Sr David's favourite charity, the Music Man Project.
The late MP was President of the Music Man Project, a music education and performance service for people with learning difficulties.
"Prayers will be said by Father Jeff Woolnough", says Ms Firth who will be in attendance.
Ms Firth is expecting the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Nigel Folkard, to attend, as well as other Southend-on-Sea city councillors, members of family and friends, and Sir David's staff.
