Southend man charged with attempted murder after serious assault

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a serious assault in Southend over the weekend.
A woman was seriously injured shortly before midday on Sunday (July 3) on Kensington Road. She remains in a stable condition in hospital.
30 year old James Reilly, of Guildford Road in Southend, is accused of attempted murder as well as aggravated burglary and criminal damage.
He's also been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, as well as racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment.
He's due to appear before Southend Magistrates Court later today (July 5).
