Over £14,000 has been raised for the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity through the annual Santa Fun Run.

More than 300 people, dressed as Father Christmas, took part in the event in Colchester Castle Park over the weekend, running either 3km or 5km.

Fundraising manager for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, Daniel Bailey said: “We are so pleased we could hold a live event this year as the Santa Fun Run is the perfect start to the festive season. There’s such a feel good factor about everyone completing the run together.

“We always feel very humbled when our community support us with such enthusiasm. The money will genuinely make life-changing improvements to a wide range of departments and services at our hospitals and community sites.

“We would like to say a huge thank you all the supporters to helped make the event a success and really got everyone feeling very Christmassy. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
