Man arrested after series of attempted robberies and carjackings in Leigh and Basildon

A man has been arrested after a spate of attempted robberies and carjackings in South Essex this morning.
Police were called shortly before 9am this morning, after reports of a man trying to steal multiple cars which were in traffic in Leigh.
A member of the public claimed they were threatened on the A127 by a man who'd got into thier car. Three people were also assaulted in the area.
At around 9:45am three members of the public detained a man in Basildon. A 32 year old was subsequently arrested.
Police are now looking for witnesses or anyone who captured dashcam footage of the incidents to come forward.
