Pup saved by firefighters after kitchen fire in Braintree
The cockapoo was stuck in the kitchen as it filled with smoke
Crews from Braintree and Halstead attended the fire on Wednesday
Crews were called to a kitchen fire in Stanstrete Field, Braintree at 6.30pm after neighbours called the fire service when they heard the smoke alarm go off.
The fire crews were able to rescue Waffles the Cockerpoo, and were able to give them oxygen through a pet oxygen mask.
They say that the fire was started because items were left on the hob, and caught fire when the hob was accidentally switched on.
In a statement they've said "We can’t say it enough, please do not leave items on top of your hob. We attend so many incidents where people have used the hob as a storage area and items have set alight, it’s just not worth the risk.”
