Over £20m in funding has been agreed to build two new primary schools in Malden and Basildon.

Both will serve new communities in the district with new Basildon primary to be located at The Dry Street housing development, which is made up of 725 new homes.

The new Maldon primary school will be located at the Limebrook Way development, which includes around 1800 homes.

Both are expected to be finished by September 2024 - each will also include childcare provision for over 50 local children.

Essex County Council is hoping the new schools reduce the need for people to travel outside of the district to find a place.

Work is ongoing to find academy chains to run the schools.
