£1.2m of Home Office funding for perpetrator projects in Essex will give people who commit domestic abuse more opportunities to change their behavior.
The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, in collaboration with Essex County Council, Southend City Council, and Thurrock Council, won a successful bid to the Home Office's Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Fund.
The funding will support SETDAB's innovative schemes, including mentoring projects and perpetrator intervention programs, and extend the #Reflect behavior change campaign. The projects aim to educate those involved in domestic abuse offenses, encouraging them to change their behavior and recognize what healthy relationships look like.
Additionally, the funding will be used to pilot a new approach to targeting perpetrators of stalking behaviors and early intervention for first-time domestic abuse offenders.
Part of the funding is allocated to victim services to ensure that victims are informed, protected, and offered help.
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, emphasized the importance of breaking the cycle of domestic abuse by partnering to deliver educational projects that prevent domestic abuse and reduce harm.
The funding is available from 1st April 2023 to end-March 2025 and supplemented with local match funding.
If you're affected by domestic abuse issues, help is available from your local domestic abuse service Essex Compass.
