Police presence in Grays after Man in van tries to get girl into his vehicle
Police will be present in the area during school drop off and pick up times
Essex Police will be patrolling in Grays today (27/04) after a girl reported being approached by a man in a black van yesterday (26/04).
The incident is reported to have happened at 7:15am in Long Lane.
The man then tried to get the girl into this van, but she was not harmed and was able to leave the area.
Police are now viewing local CCTV and are carrying out house-to-house enquiries. No arrests have been made yet.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or doorbell footage of it is encouraged to get in touch with Essex Police.
Temporary Chief Inspector Tony Atkin, Thurrock district commander, said:
“I know this incident will cause the community concern. We are investigating the incident and have specific resources focusing on this to identify the vehicle and person involved. I would ask the public to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to us.
“There will be a visible policing presence in the area this afternoon and during school collection and pick up in the coming days.
"I would encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to the officers there; they are there to help the community."
