Police are investigating reports a gun was fired in a street in Thurrock yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called to Weston Avenue at around 2:45pm to a report of a man holding an alleged firearm.

It was reported a loud bang was heard before two men left the scene. There are no reports of any injuries.

Detective Inspector Yoni Adler, of Essex Police, said: “Officers were on scene yesterday and the retail park area was closed off so they could carry out investigative duties.

“We have spoken to a number of people to establish what happened, but would like to speak to anyone who has information that could help us.

“Anyone in the area at the time that has dash cam footage is asked to check it to see if they have captured anything that may help the investigation.

“Officers will carry out reassurance patrols in the area today. If you have any information, approach them and tell us what you know.”
