Police are investigating an incident on Southchurch Road in Southend.

They were called shortly after 7pm on Sunday, to reports of a disturbance taking place inside a property.

Officers found two men who had sustained injuries - one a hand injury and one a leg injury – which are not life-threatening or life-changing.

At this stage no arrests have been made and officers from Southend CID are following a number of targeted lines of enquiry.

Chief Inspector Dave Browning, Southend district commander, said: “We won’t tolerate incidents such as this in Southend and those involved can expect to be identified quickly and arrested.

“Whilst this investigation is in its early stages, we are confident this incident relates to people involved in Class A drug use and are also known to each other. Although this is concerning, there is no wider threat to our Southend public.

“We’ve had a policing presence in the area overnight as the investigation progresses and that will continue.

“We’re working hard to stamp these incidents out in our city and that will continue throughout the Summer months."

“I would reiterate that anyone who thinks they can behave this way in Southend is wrong – and they can expect to be arrested.”
