Police incident closes M11 in Essex in both directions

Traffic is reportedly queueing for around six miles

A police incident closed the M11 in Essex in both directions today (7 July).

Police were called to concerns for the welfare of a man on the M11 near Stansted Airport at around 2.30pm.

Emergency services attended the scene and a man was found injured.

Traffic is reportedly queueing for around six miles, but all lanes have now reopened.

The incident happened at Junction 8 for the A120 (Bishops Stortford).

There is said to be congestion to the A1184 through Sawbridgeworth as traffic looks to divert.

The road re-opened at around 4pm.

But, there is also a broken down vehicle in the queues northbound before the junction.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said:

"We need anyone who saw anything or has dash cam footage to come forward.

"If you have any information you can submit a report online or use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm.

"Please quote incident 606 of 7 July.

"You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
