Police arrest man after series of arsons in Rayleigh

Eight different fires were reported across the town centre on Monday

Police made an arrest after a series of arson attacks in Rayleigh.

Eight different incidents were reported on Monday night, the first of which happened shortly after 11pm on Eastwood Road.

A further seven fires were later reported in the town centre, on Rayleigh High Street.

Nobody was hurts but several local businesses had stock and premises damaged.

A 28 year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of arson and is currently in custody.

Witnesses, or anyone who captured additonal CCTV or doorbell footage, are being urged to contact police.
