Police appeal after woman dies in Witham crash

Detectives, investigating a fatal collision in Witham, are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

Police were called at around 10am yesterday (Sunday 12 January), after reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Powers Hall Road.

Emergency services attended, after a Mitsubishi Shogun came to rest on its side. The driver was unharmed.

The female pedestrian, aged in her 40s, died at the scene, despite efforts from paramedics.

The road was closed while officers carried out an investigation at the scene and to allow for recovery of the car.

The road was reopened shortly before 3pm.

The driver was arrested, on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He was released under investigation, whike investigations continue.
