Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a crash in Southend yesterday during which a car was stolen.

It happened along Richmond Street at around 1:45pm.

A silver Mercedes was involved in a collision with a large vehicle, believed to be van.

Four men, wearing masks and dark tracksuits, got out of the vehicle and threatened the Mercedes driver.

Some of the men then drove off in the Mercedes - its driver, a man in his 30s, wasn't hurt during the incident.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
