Person hit by a train between Ingatestone and Witham

All lines have now reopened

A person has died after being struck by a train near Chelmsford Railway Station.

British Transport Police were called to the location of the incident at 10.46am today (16 December) following reports of the casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended, however the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.

This incident, which is not being treated as suspicious, took place when the victim was hit by the 9.32 am Norwich-London Liverpool Street train.

Greater Anglia says all lines have now reopened and that anyone who has been affected by the delays can claim delay repay on their website.
