Patients at Essex hospitals gifted opportunity to watch Euro Finals
Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity funds many different projects to improve patient care
Patients in hospital across mid and south Essex will be given the chance to watch the Euro Finals for free.
The Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity has installed Wi-fi spark at Basildon and Broomfield to show the game for free on Sunday (14 July) on all the patient bedside TV’s.
This is being funded by the proceeds of the Staff Lottery.
Southend Hospital does not have patient bedside TVs, but most areas now have TVs and aerials - again purchased by the Charity team.
Lucy Thomas-Clayton, Mid and South Essex Hospital Charity lead, said: “It’s hard for patients who are in hospital convalescing, we wanted to spread a little joy and didn’t want patients and staff to miss out on this historic final. We hope the atmosphere will bring some needed cheer, as we all get behind the England team.”
Claire Gentry, health play specialist at Southend University Hospital, says it’s important for patients to celebrate all events.
She said: “We don’t only do the sporting events, but we also do cultural events and festivals too, and try to encourage patients to join in. When people are in hospital, they can feel very isolated, away from their families and friends. This event, it raises morale, and just makes the patients feel better and encourages their recovery.”
Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity funds many different projects to improve patient care and provides extra luxuries that help patients and staff to have a better experience.
